I am ...

fluid, ever evolving - well, except for being passionate which has always been a constant.  Off the bat, I’ll say I am proudly a teacher, filipina, lesbian and a dragon boater... but I am more than that.  I am an only child, born in Long Beach, raised in San Diego, but grew up in The Bay.  I’m a seeker of truth & knowledge, someone who wants to incite intellectual, cultural & emotional revolutions.  I make a point to challenge myself & my students because 'a mind once expanded can never return to it’s old dimensions.'  and nothing makes me feel more accomplished than growth.  My goal as an educator is to push students & shine a light on what is possible in their world despite their circumstances.  I am support.  I am their tour guide of knowledge & life.  I am the mother of the room 305 family.  I have learned to fight for what I believe in even if my insides tremble.  So much of who I am is tied up into being a teacher & I find so much of my personal worth in what kind of teacher/mentor I am and how many lives I positively impact.  I think that I always strive for perfection but I also don't think that perfection exists but being really dang good at something is just fine with me.
